See How They Run is a humorous portrait of American politics
played out in San Francisco. With behind the scenes access, this film
follows Mayor Willie Brown in his fight for re-election. The story takes
a remarkable turn when an openly gay city supervisor and stand-up comedian,
Tom Ammiano, stages a historic write-in campaign to create a David and
Goliath showdown.
This verite film chronicles an election in which power, race and sexual orientation
ended up on the back-burner for locals more concerned about the expansion
of Starbucks and the ‘dot-coms’ in their backyards. See How They Run
captures the humor and scandals from inside personal and political battles.
Includes appearances by: Reverend Jesse Jackson, Regis & Kathie
Lee, Sean Penn, Bill Maher, Arianna Huffington, George Schultz, Senator
Dianne Feinstein, Oakland Mayor Jerry Brown and the voters and press of
San Francisco.
